We were trying to plan out K's nap schedule and decide accordingly when we should drive to Great-Grandma's house in the Bronx for the party. "Who are we kidding?" I said. "He'll nap for twenty minutes in the morning, refuse to go down at all in the afternoon, and have a meltdown five minutes after everybody shows up." "Then why worry?" JW sensibly asked. So we didn't.
In the morning we made it to the Bronx in record time and drove up and down the Hutch for another twenty minutes so we could stretch K's nap to close to an hour. In the afternoon, ten minutes after he lay down in the basement, everyone started running up and down the stairs yelling and bringing in food for the party. I stuck him in the Beco and walked him around for forty-five minutes before he fell asleep. Twenty minutes later he woke up when we tried to put him in his crib.
Despite all this, he did great at the party. He played with everybody, happily ripped wrapping paper, and was thrilled with the big car he got as a present. When it was cake time, I made the mistake of holding him while trying to feed him. My reward was to be smeared with whipped cream -- all over my hair, neck, and sweater. (The duck cake didn't work out in the end and I ordered a strawberry cream cake. Maybe I'll make a duck cake on my birthday.)
My baby is one! I can't believe it.

He is adorable! (And I bought the same Robeez for Peach, too!)
Happy birthday to him!
And driving up and down the Hutch is no small feat!
What a great birthday boy! He's so handsome!
That little dude is so handsome! Congratulations on your first year with him. And many more!
Wow, that was fast. How can he possibly be one already? And boy, those are some pretty cute pictures. He looks like he was pretty into the cake!
Happy birthday to him . . . why can't I eat birthday cake and smear it all over my face anymore? I wish I could!

He's adorable!
Happy late Birthday K! I thought of you all on the 1st - I can't believe a year has gone by already!
Ha! This reminds me of the same time last year before I became a commenter. You didn't want to be induced and I was scared to death that K would get too big and have to be cut out of you. Hrm, in hindsight I guess I should have started commenting sooner than I did. Oh well. Happy belated b-day K from your internet stalker Auntie Ana. Oh, and congratulations on the first year mommy! (I read the blog everyday - but am just now catching up on my comments!)
