Last week
Him: What do you want for Christmas?
Me: I could really use some nice woolen socks.
Him: Woolen socks? What are you, a house-elf?
Last night
My mother: What do you want for Christmas?
My father: She said she wanted socks.
Her: Socks?? That's not a gift.
Him: Remember when you said you wanted woolen socks, and I said, "What are you, a house-elf?"

He's awesome
Your father sounds a lot like mine! Except my dad is actually obsessed with wool socks, so when I ask for "a couple pairs" for Christmas I end up with a lifetime supply.
Thanks for the majamas advice - I'll look into it for sure because I spend A LOT of time in my pj's. (Wait till you're a 3L - it'll happen.)
Mom's right--socks are not a gift. You little house elf.
