Expecting couples beware
Before K was born, I called our health insurance provider to find out what was covered and how to add him. (By the way, I recommend doing this early on in your pregnancy; my insurance provider had a prenatal care program where they keep track of your due date and assign someone to monitor you throughout your pregnancy, which would probably be a good thing if you have complications.) They told us the copay for the hospital stay would be $100 per day, up to a maximum of five days. Today we got the bill -- for over a thousand dollars. How did that happen? It was $500 for me and $500 for the baby. (Plus charges for various tests and things, some of which I'll dispute.) We just weren't thinking about that, so I thought I'd pass it on for those of you who are also still in the pre-baby mindset.
