I read Scoplaw's post about why law school is stressful, via the Law School Roundup, and some responses to it.
Sometimes, like right before exams, stress is unavoidable. But for the rest of the semester, here's an easy way to avoid law school stress: Don't talk to anyone.
Seriously. In my birthing classes, the instructor kept telling us to avoid hearing horrific labor stories. If anyone started talking about their excruciating pain, she said, just cut them off and say you don't want to hear that. Otherwise you'll start internalizing it.
Law school is the same. The more you hear people talking about how much they've been studying and how far ahead of you they are, the more anxious you get. So talk about what movie you saw this weekend, or the girl you just started seeing, or the quality of the cafeteria food, or, if you're that type of law student, debate the finer points of sentencing law post-Booker. Just don't talk about work.
