Part 2: Things I want to do in law school

  • Study at the library: I've recently discovered I like working out at the gym, so on the same theory (a dedicated place for a specific purpose) I want to try studying at the library.

  • Be social: make friends, talk louder at parties, and get over that impulse to shrink into a corner when I'm in a group of people I don't know.

  • Get practical experience: sign up for clinics, pro bono opportunities, and later on, apply for jobs. Don't get so caught up in classes that I forget I'm in school to learn how to be a lawyer.

  • Stay healthy: keep my 8 hours a night and daily exercise routine.

  • Take breaks and not ruin my wrists or eyes in my quest to get something done.

  • Remember why I'm there and not romanticize my former career. (I hated it! Fiddling with computers all day. And I only have so much free time right now because I know I'm quitting soon; I used to work nights and weekends like everybody else. But I have a feeling once I get back in school, I'll look longingly back at my software days when I had time and money.)
